Climate Ambassadors celebrated Inter school Wild Vegetable Festival on Saturday 20th August 2016 at D.S. High School. As monsoon arrives in Maharashtra, the forest & countryside becomes lush green with wild variety of vegetation. Many of them considered wild edible vegetables. Those seasonal wild vegetables are important part of our traditional diet culture. To revive this tradition was the main aim of this festival. Students were made understand about the Biodiversity of plants & monsoon flora through this festival. There were 6 schools & R. J. College, Ghatkopar participated in the festival. The children and teachers displayed information about wild vegetables by posters & PPT presentations describing their nutritional values & medicinal properties. Students decorated their stalls with different types of wild vegetables & different recipes of these wild vegetables. Normally children are not that happy to eat green vegetables and prefer to eat Junk Food. But in this festival we observed that all the students visited to all the stalls, they were curious about the wild vegetables & enjoyed eating all the dishes being displayed at the stalls. There were more than 50 dishes prepared by using more than 20 species of wild vegetables.
